Being the only Hard of hearing person in the family and nobody isn't willing to learn ASL makes me feel left out when it comes to know what's going on. People don't understand how I feel about not being able to hear. It fustrates me when nobody is willing to repeat what someone had just said, but yet everyone else gets to hear what is being said. When I ask what did they said, they will say, 'oh it's nothing'. They act like it so hard to commuicate with me. Sometimes when I ask a family member what did the other person said, I would get an attitude, such as a sigh. When there a conversation going on, I try my best to read lips and catch some of the convo. Half of the time I don't know what going on in the conversation, so I would just not pay attention. People would talk about me as if I wasn't there when I'm am sitting right there in the same room. I feel like I get ignored,blamed and yelled at for not being able to hear when I can't help it. It's not my fault that I am hard of hearing. Now, when I socialize with my deaf and Hard of Hearing friends and friends that are willing to sign, I feel like I can connect with them more than my family. I'm more comfortable with my friends because they understand me. Yet, my family complain that I talk to my friends more than them and want to be with my friend more than them. Well My Deaf and Hard of Hearing friends understands me. When I'm with my friends, I don't get left out.<br /><br />I'm not dumb, I'm just like everybody else, just can't hear,<br /><br />I'm sure this is nothing new to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people out there. I needed to vent a little.
